Is it me or has April flown by?  I cannot believe today is the first day of May.  I love Spring for many reasons: the warmer weather, the flowers blooming, being able to run outdoors again, the festivals, etc.  But my favorite part about spring is hiking.  Michael and I try to go on a hike at least once every spring.  We have made trips to the Smoky Mountains, Colorado, Utah, and we are currently planning on where we are going this year.  The ONE item that I always bring with me is a rain jacket.  There is nothing worse than being stuck in the rain hours out on a hike without a rain jacket and rain gear. I also bring a rain jacket to keep me warm.  We would go on hikes where it would be 80 degrees in town, but the temperature would drop down to 40 degrees as we climbed higher in the mountains.  I also want a rain jacket that I can wear at home running everyday errands too!

I tend to try to buy more affordable everyday fashion, BUT I splurge on the necessities: jackets, shoes, bags, and jeans.  I want these types of items to last and to actually serve their purpose, at the same time look cute!  I started shopping at Backcountry last fall when I got a Patagonia Parka winter coat (pictured and linked below).  After wearing it all winter long I knew that I made a smart decision on splurging on both the jacket and my blundstone boots.  This jacket was so warm and I got so many compliments on it.  I love how Backcountry has all of the leading outdoors brands for hiking, cycling, running, skidding, etc.

Because I loved the Patagonia Parka so much I decided to splurge on the Patagonia Parka Rain Jacket this spring.  I loved the many color options and the length of it.  It hits mid thigh and the arms are plenty long enough.  I also love how breathable this jacket it, yet I feel warm in it.  It will be great to take with me on my next hike or while running a few errands around town.  I truly love how versatile the pieces ta Backcountry are.
