We recently got back from our vacation in Hilton Head and we had the BEST trip! You all know how much Mike and I enjoy traveling and exploring new areas but this trip felt so special as it was our Babymoon. We really got to step away, take some time out of office, and soak up the time before Baby Bell comes- I know it will be a trip we remember forever!
I tried to share a lot of my recommendations on Instagram while we were in Hilton Head, but I thought that I would put all of the information together for you in one spot in this Hilton Head Travel Guide. If you’ve never been to Hilton Head or if you don’t know much about it, it has all of the Southern charm we love and it’s by the water… the perfect destination for a spring or summer vacation! There are so many amazing places to eat and so many fun things to do, so I narrowed it down to all of my favorites and am sharing a few tips if you’re taking a trip to the island yourself.
Food
The Crazy Crab
Java Burrito Co
Think Chipotle but everything is local & there are way more options. The meat is also grass-fed and local!
Al’s Aloha Kitchen
We went for acai bowls and they were amazing!
Skull Creek Boathouse
A crowd favorite! Make sure to go to the boathouse vs dockside, dockside is good but the boathouse is better IMO. Walk-ins only, I recommend getting here at 5 to avoid a long wait- we got here at 5:30 and it was a 30-40 min wait. Pretty view to walk around while you wait and there is a playground for kids plus live music every day!
The French Bakery and European Cuisine
Carolina Coffee and Crumbs
Perfect place to grab a quick but good quality breakfast & coffee. Can make your own breakfast sandwiches and they have breakfast burritos, french toast, donuts, etc. Walking distance from the beach!
Nectar Farm Kitchen
The Salty Dog Cafe
Top 3 Favorites
#1: Poseidon
Fave dinner on HHI, highly recommended!! You can make a reservation which is always nice. The best seafood, shellfish is local- most places the fish isn’t freshly caught and you can taste the difference at Poseidon.
#2: Hudsons
Food and vibes are amazing, right on the water, and bottomless hush puppies that come with your meal! All shrimp, crab, and oysters are freshly caught. I personally think it’s right there ranked #1 with Poseidon because it has the vibes AND delicious food. Go early to avoid a long wait.
#3: Fishcamp (on Broad Creek)
Pet-friendly, SO good with the best hush puppies of the trip. I liked Poseidon more for fish but it was delicious. Loved the atmosphere and that it was on the water.
Where We Stayed
Sonesta Resort
We loved it! It is very kid and pet friendly. Also right on the beach so it’s in a great location, accessible to a ton!
Activities
Ride bikes around the island
Beach day
Shopping
Go to Savannah, GA
It’s so easy to go just for the day because it is only an hour long drive!
Kayak tours
Park Place Cinema
You are allowed to bring dogs under 20 lbs into the theater! Comfortable seating too!
A Note on Pets…
Hilton Head Island is super dog friendly, so if you’re looking for a spot where you can bring your doggo this is a great option! You can walk or bike everywhere making it super easy to explore with a dog- we took Denver everywhere we could. You can also have them off-leash on the beach before 10 am and after 5 pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day, outside of those dates pets are allowed on the beach at all times!
