If you are ever in Indy during May, it won’t take long for you to notice that May is a big month for Indy. Indiana is home to the Indy 500, it is the world’s largest race that brings in around 300,000 people on race day Memorial Day weekend. The entire month of may is called the Indy 500 Festival and just about every weekend is filled with events: concerts, half marathons, galas, food festivals, etc. The first major “kick off” event in May is what I attended this past weekend, The Rev Indy Event.
What is Rev Indy?
Rev Indy is an event that raises funds for IU Health Foundation statewide trauma and critical care programs. These funds provide care for drivers and patrons at the IU Health Emergency Medical Center located at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and for patients across Indiana in need of critical care. Last year this event was able to rase enough funds to purchase an ambulance with a full operating room in the vehicle.
Recap of the Rev Indy Event:
I do not even know where to start. When we first arrived to Rev, NBC was filming the event live during the Kentucky Derby. After NBC finished filming, we went on a Hot Lap around the race track driving around 150 MPH. Thank goodness I didn’t each before because I would have gotten sick. It was AMAZING!
After we finished our Hot Lap we went from tent to tent sampling food from some of the most popular top Chefs in Indy. There were probably 100+ restaurants on site. It was a great opportunity to try food from restaurants we ave never been to in Indy. Live music was played in every tent throughout the night and guests had the opportunity to meet the race car drivers and their wives.
We finished the night with dancing to live music right on the race track! Attending Rev was such a cool opportunity to not only see the race track , but to most importantly support a good cause.
