If you have watched my Instagram stories, you can find out very quickly that I am one of those crazy cardio lovers. I was a runner growing up and I still compete in races to this day. I still make strength training a priority during my weekly workout routine, but cardio is my go to and it makes me happy!
I know what 80% you are thinking, GREAT, but I am not a cardio person whatsoever. How can I get cardio in that is short, sweet, and fun?
Your answer: JUMP ROPE
About a year ago I added jump rope to my workouts. I was watching some boxing movie or commercial and I saw all these super in shape people jump rope and then LIGHT BULB. I went out and bought a jumprope and started jump roping.
My biggest advice is to BE PATIENT! You will get your feet caught in the rope, but its not about coming in and doing the workout perfectly. It’s about learning a new skill and a new way to workout. Most importantly, it’s about having fun and stewarding the body that God gave you.
The key to jump rope is to tighten your core and to keep your knees slightly bent. Your core keeps everything together and if you embrace your core you will start to notice that it will become a little more natural. Another key to jump rope is to get the right kind of jump rope. I am 5’10” and I need a longer rope. Click HERE for an adjustable length jump rope.
This workout pairs well with a core or strength workout and can be a great warm up. I have even done this workout during commercial breaks while watching my favorite show. (Yeah I am one of those, don’t judge haha) click HERE for a CORE WORKOUT.
MY OUTFIT: I have been loving muscle tees lately as well as spandex shorts. These come in tall, regular, AND petite sizes and have pockets on the side that fit my iphone and keys. I love how they are high waisted and not too short. They run TTS. I am wearing a small.
